my close up, DONNA BARKER, A HORSE FOR SUMMER, movie (12th - 22nd October 2013)

Hi and welcome to my blog. I’m single, 31 years old and an Australian. For those that don’t know, I am an encopresis survivor. I had it, undiagnosed, til I was about 15 years old. There are many children and their families going through this but not many patients/survivors open up and share their experiences to help others understand it and prove that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I personally know what it feels like to have the physcial pain of poop not coming out (no matter how hard I try), having suppositories and having NO pain/sensations/smelling senses to know what’s happening. I’m here to help and offer what I can, and more. I was constantly bullied at school, had no real friends, no social and no boyfriends…but I also never took drugs/smoke/drink alcohol. If any readers out there have suggestions for my blog, questions, etc then please let me know.

As a survivor I gave gained a lot more confidence in myself and my potential (especially since I finished school). I’m in the process of writing a book about my experiences, things I’ve learnt in my research and what other parents have shared to me about their experiences. I also have a youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/naturegirl015) that you’re welcome to visit (and share). Now I’m a trainee circus trainer at the Sandfly Circus (including training to do aerials acts, something I would never have imagined myself doing when I had enco).

I’m also well travelled and have travelled around the world ever since I was 13 years old.

My dream is to be an author & actress, especially for Doctor Who. I play video games/computer games, love to read books, circus, TV/movie extra, performing onstage. Anything else you want to know, just ask.

I have created a Facebook group unique just for us (people who have encopresis, not parents unless they had it personally) here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/250860305044481/

Thank you for reading, and spread the word. 🙂

Yes, you may mention my blog in your book.

If you are interested in sharing your story on high-profile talk shows like “Ellen”, you might also consider reaching out to the American talk show “Katie” with Katie Couric. Having guests share their “overcoming life challenges” stories is central to her show, and the show is broadcast widely. Just something to consider!

Thank you Brianne. I am interested in sharing my story on Katie and more, the problem I have is that I’m an Australian (I can and will travel). As an Australian, the online application form does not accept any address (including phone numbers and post code) apart from U.S.A. I know they have Facebook and other Social Media connections and will see how I go there. However if you know of another way to get the word out there, then please let me know (or do it yourself on my behalf). Thank you for your comments, and have a good day.

Hey! I am a mom of a 6-year old son with encopresis and am so grateful for happening upon your blog. I just posted about your blog on my own (extendedpottytraining.com) and hope you will cross-link to mine as well. Search for the post “Posts and blogs by other which I have found helpful.”

      Hey Brianne,

How are you? I just had a look myself at your blog and your post. I will definitely include your blog in my links (and book, with your permission). Feel free to e-mail me: naturegirl015admin@themagicwithinus.com Thank you for your comments (in your blog) and taking the time to read mine. I hope you find it useful. One day I will get onto The Ellen Degeneres Show and talk about Encopresis. Enjoy the weekend.
